French Conversation 1

Oral interaction and French conversation.
The main aim, which seems to meet the overall expectation and wishes of members, is to expand their vocabulary and ability to become familiar with phrases and words for everyday use: how they look, sound, and the spelling.
The articles we read in French bring us up to date with the language of today and what is talked about in France and the crossword puzzles are good exercise for the little grey cells.

We had full attendance in Group 1 for our Christmas 23 December gathering. After some general conversation, we read a passage about the trouble the French are taking to draw up carefully chosen menus for the athletes from many different countries who will be visiting for the Olympics. The produce will need to be sourced locally and to have a larger vegetarian content.
Coffee and mince pies and a little mulled wine helped us to finish a crossword with the clues in French.
We look forward to meeting with Group 2 in the summer when it is warm enough to be outside.
In good French tradition “le café et les biscuits sont merveilleux”.
